      S.O.A.R. has implemented its Hands Up Program for young adults which is established to meet the needs facing homeless adults between the ages of eighteen (18) and twenty-four (24) who have become involved in prostitution, and their families who reside in the greater Riverside area. Further, the Hands-Up Program will provide services to adult gang members between the ages of eighteen (18) and twenty-five (25). S.O.A.R. currently provides supportive services to both populations in order to improve their status, their educational levels, their life skills, their academic achievements as well as their physical and mental well-being. Services specific to these populations will be determined based upon an assessment of their needs, a community assessment, referring them to appropriate support services (including, but not limited to, programs such as substance abuse programs, housing programs and employment training) and by providing case-management services. The above stated services will enhance the abilities of the participants which will lead to gainful self-sufficiency, and a reduction in crime.

The goals of the Hands Up Program are for the program participants and their families to gain employment skills which will lead to self-sufficiency, to become free of drug use, to eliminate criminal behavior and to develop self-worth, which will prevent their return to their previous behavior. Participants will also receive essential life skills which will enable them to support themselves and their families, emotionally, physically, spiritually and economically. In so doing, they will experience economic stability as they will be receiving a stable (and livable) wage. Further, the program will assist participants in obtaining safe, decent, affordable and sanitary housing.
