The Out-Of-School Suspension Program- This program was designed to provide academic support and mentoring for youth in Riverside County schools who have been suspended.  By providing services in this program S.O.A.R.  effectively reduces criminal behavior and deliquency.  The project will also offer additional services as needed and will refer participants to appropropriate services.

According to the Riverside Unified School Districts, a large number of students are suspended from school on a monthly basis.  These students are then unsupervised and most spend their days in  non-productive and risky behavior.  Additionally, since they are barrred from the classroom, they are unable to obtain their school work and, subsequently, they fall further behind.  The S.O.A.R. Project offers these students a safe and monitored educational envirment during their suspension period.  S.O.A.R. is given access to their assignments so that the students do not fall behind in their school work.  They also receive guidance counseling as well as emotional support during their suspension from school.
